Ron Hanson

Head of Retirement

Ron Hanson is Senior Vice-President, Head of Retirement for Mackenzie Investments. Ron is responsible for developing and executing Mackenzie’s strategy for the retirement market and establishing a high-performing team that works across the entire organization. This includes laying out the direction for product development, identifying distribution opportunities in both the retail and distribution channels, and developing talent and technical capabilities to establish Mackenzie as the market leader in the space.

Ron has more than 25 years’ experience in the investment management industry with GLC Asset Management, its predecessor companies and its parent, Canada Life. Most recently, and prior to its acquisition by Mackenzie, Ron served as President and Chief Investment Officer of GLC where he oversaw the firm’s investment management and business operations, provided strategic direction and was responsible for ensuring investment performance remained strong. His extensive experience at GLC also includes the roles of Chief Investment Strategist and Vice-President, Canadian Equities. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ron is an active member of the Finance and Administration Committee for United Way, Winnipeg.

Ron is a CFA charterholder and earned an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba.
