DAVID FAASSEN: So this is it! Sunday we leave for our two week expedition in BC supporting True Patriot Love and raising funds for our veterans. As you can see, I’ve got the “two week in the wilderness without access to shower” haircut now, so I’m all set to go. Spent the last several weeks preparing, training, testing our gear, so I’m feeling as prepared as I can for that. Don’t know what Mother Nature’s going to bring to us, but that’s when we rely upon our guides and our wits to get us through it. Just a reminder, we’re doing this expedition – Mackenzie Investments is supporting this expedition – to support and raise funds and awareness for our military, who serve on our behalf in reintegrating back into civilian life. So if you haven’t already done so, please visit my page and donate. Thank you very much. I’ll see you in two weeks.

The plight of Canadian veterans is a topic that is very close to my heart. That is why I participated in the True Patriot Love Scotiabank Mackenzie Expedition this summer. Our team of Canadian business executives and soldiers hiked over the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, rafted down the Bella Coola River and paddled ocean canoes out to the explorer’s historic inscription to raise funds for the True Patriot Love Foundation, a national charity that works to inspire every Canadian to contribute to the resilience and wellbeing of military and Veteran families.

It was an honour to be a part of this expedition and step up for the brave Canadian men and women who serve our country. I would like to thank everyone who helped me achieve my fundraising goal and challenge those who are still interested to help us surpass $100,000. Consider making a donation to this worthwhile cause today. Together, we can make a substantial difference in the lives of veterans and their families.
