“Let’s show our
True Patriot Love”
Vlog 01: Fundraising Progress
David Faassen, Senior Vice President, Marketing, provides an update on the True Patriot Love Mackenzie Expedition
DAVID FAASSEN: Roughly five weeks to go to the expedition. The time has flied so quickly. It’s a bit frightening. The fundraising is going quite well – a little slow start, but it’s doing quite well right now. We’re about halfway towards the official goal of $50,000. It has been a combination of friends, family. We’re selling hats – True Patriot Love Mackenzie hats – to employees. We’ve had donations from employees, from complete strangers who’ve been watching our social media feeds, which is all fantastic, and we’re starting to see some great feedback and support from our business partners, as well, which is all very exciting. So halfway to the official goal, but we actually have an unofficial goal, which I won’t reveal at this point. Quite excited about that and fingers crossed, we’re going to get there.
The plight of Canadian veterans is a topic that is very close to my heart. That is why I participated in the True Patriot Love Scotiabank Mackenzie Expedition this summer. Our team of Canadian business executives and soldiers hiked over the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, rafted down the Bella Coola River and paddled ocean canoes out to the explorer’s historic inscription to raise funds for the True Patriot Love Foundation, a national charity that works to inspire every Canadian to contribute to the resilience and wellbeing of military and Veteran families.
It was an honour to be a part of this expedition and step up for the brave Canadian men and women who serve our country. I would like to thank everyone who helped me achieve my fundraising goal and challenge those who are still interested to help us surpass $100,000. Consider making a donation to this worthwhile cause today. Together, we can make a substantial difference in the lives of veterans and their families.
