Portfolio Advantage

  • A diversified Canadian equity portfolio that seeks to have lower volatility than a Canadian small or mid-cap portfolio.
  • Well diversified across sectors and offers a portfolio of companies with higher growth potential than the broad market.
  • Track record of outperformance in rising markets and defensive positioning in down markets
  • Growth-oriented management style that combines top-down macro-analysis with bottom-up fundamental stock research.

Investment Philosophy

The Mackenzie GLC Team combines top-down macro-level analysis with fundamental bottom-up research. The team seeks to identify industry risks, competitive opportunities and macro trends to influence sector allocations. This top-down view is augmented by a disciplined and thorough fundamental due diligence process to identify companies that are positioned to outperform. Within well-defined risk parameters, the team seeks out companies across the market cap spectrum and will take meaningful positions in specific companies when opportunities present themselves.

Investment Approach

  • Analyze macroeconomic themes (top-down), then based on this analysis, they select the securities that fit these themes and have the potential for growth (bottom-up).
  • Focuses on companies that exhibit accelerating revenue and earnings growth – to capture opportunities for long term growth for investors
  • Within well-defined risk parameters, the team seeks out companies across the market cap spectrum and will take meaningful positions in select companies when opportunities present.
  • Diversification across at least 8 of 11 GICS sectors with targeted holding range of 50 to 80 stocks.
