Portfolio Advantage

  • A concentrated portfolio of high quality, large-cap stocks that are broadly diversified across sectors.
  • Seeks to have higher return-on-invested capital attributes, higher growth metrics and a higher re-investment rate compared to the broad Canadian benchmark.
  • Growth-oriented management style that combines top-down macro-analysis with bottom-up fundamental stock research.

Investment Philosophy

The Mackenzie GLC Team combines top-down macro-level analysis with fundamental bottom-up research. The team seeks to identify industry risks, competitive opportunities and macro trends to influence sector allocations. This top-down view is augmented by a disciplined and thorough fundamental due diligence process to identify companies that are positioned to outperform. Within well-defined risk parameters, the team seeks out companies across the market cap spectrum and will take meaningful positions in specific companies when opportunities present themselves.

Investment Approach

  • The team applies a deep fundamental analysis approach to stock selection and focuses on companies with strong business models, sustainable competitive advantages, proven management teams and a track record for generating return-on capital well in excess of their cost of capital.
  • Using dynamic and proprietary financial models along with deep dive analysis into companies, the portfolio manager seeks to capture opportunities and manage risks that are mispriced or not yet priced into the market.
  • Concentrated portfolio of 25 to 45 high-conviction holdings
