Eleven Mackenzie Investments funds have been recognized for their industry-leading performance at the 2020 Fundata FundGrade A+®Awards. The awards, which are produced by Fundata, a major provider of fund and stock information, celebrate the funds with the highest levels of consistent, outstanding, risk-adjusted performance.
Four Mackenzie ETFs were among the 11 winners and are considered to be among the top 7% of eligible ETFs that Fundata tracks. Two of those ETFs are the Mackenzie Core Plus Canadian Fixed Income ETF (which won for the second year running) and the Mackenzie Global High Yield Fixed Income ETF, both managed by Steve Locke’s Fixed Income Team.
Steve’s team’s philosophy is that fixed income management should be based on a deep, multi-faceted understanding of risk. Each team member has a particular area of expertise within fixed income markets and they collaborate extensively to achieve a holistic understanding of what drives the market.
“We combine a whole bunch of proprietary research that includes qualitative and fundamental credit research,” explains Steve. “When we combine those important points of research across geographies and the capital structure of companies, we’re able to produce better risk-adjusted returns for our clients.”
These awards are a testament to how the Fixed Income Team’s strategies and philosophy are helping it to succeed in its goal of collectively managing a wide range of fixed income strategies seek to achieve the best possible risk-adjusted returns for investors.
